METASEARCH ENGINES FOR
THE WEB
The following links will take you to web pages where you can instantly
perform a metasearch, which is a simultaneous search of the entire web, using different "search engines".
Search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, Lycos or Alta Vista constantly scan the content of all sites on the web
and compile the results. However, different search engines use different criteria, so the most comprehensive search
technique is metasearching which combines the results from many different search engines.
Ask Jeeves - A search tool that lets you ask questions in ordinary language.
Dogpile - A metasearch engine which groups results by one search tool at a time. Includes more
than 20 search engines.
Ixquick - A simultaneous engine that can search for web pages, news sources, MP3 files, or pictures.
Metacrawler - A simultaneous meta-search tool.
