1999 SPRING CONFERENCE PREVIEW

"Behavior Intervention Plans and IDEA" will be the topic of the OSPA Spring Conference on Friday, April 23rd, 1999, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Edmond. The conference will provide valuable information and handout material on behavioral interventions and behavior management plans in accordance with requirements of the new federal law and regulations.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education is co-sponsoring the conference with OSPA, and NASP is also providing complimentary copies of its new "Behavior Interventions" booklet for all conference attendees.

The conference speaker will be Dr. Tim Knoster from the Instructional Support System of Pennsylvania and co-author of the "Functional Behavior Assessment" document published by NASDSE in 1998. Dr. Knoster is also one of the editors of the new psych journal, "Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions," which will be published by Pro-Ed and premiere in January, 1999.

The conference will also be the 25th Anniversary of OSPA being founded. In February of 1974, 45 people met and elected Charles Simon, school psychologist from Yukon, as the first interim president and appointed the first acting board of the organization. A special "Silver Anniversary" celebration is also planned as part of the conference.

The cost of the one-day conference, which includes all handout materials and a catered lunch, will be $60 for OSPA members if registration is received by April 15th. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to guarantee a seat at the conference. Please contact Helen Copp, OSPA Executive Secretary, P. 0. Box 1553, Norman, OK 73070-1553, or at hcopp@worldnet.att.net, for a conference registration form after January 1, 1999.
