PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: THE YEAR IN REVIEW The year has gone by so fast with conducting OSPA business and attending to day-to-day details that I can hardly believe it is almost over for me as your President, and I am sure that many of you feel the same way about your own respective jobs and work demands this year! I sincerely hope that 1998-99 has been a very good year for you in terms of your career satisfaction as a school psychologist or psychometrist or related professional, and I also hope that OSPA as a very vibrant and well-run organization has helped meet your professional needs and goals. I truly enjoyed meeting you in person at OSPA conferences and workshops, corresponding with you by e-mail and "snail mail," and talking to you on the telephone about your questions and concerns! OSPA would not exist without its loyal constituency of members who support it year after year with their member renewals, conference attendance, and thoughtful feedback. In return, OSPA looks after the best interests of our profession and our clients, provides valuable services and information to its members, and functions as a "watchdog" on current issues and trends in the field. I certainly appreciated each and every one of you who joined as members this year, either as long-time members or recent ones, and who helped keep this important organization going strong in its 25th year of existence! I wish that I could personally thank each of you for joining or renewing this year, but, unfortunately, that is not possible! So hopefully a "BIG THANK YOU!!!!!" from me in this message for your being an OSPA member will suffice for now! The entire Executive Board of OSPA worked very hard this year and for many long, tireless hours to make it another beneficial year for its members. In fact, OSPA membership rose to an all-time record high of 206 members this year, giving our organization even more "voice" in its direction and destiny for both the present and the future! The next 25 years will no doubt be as glorious and productive as the last 25 years for OSPA!! Please see page 3 of this issue for what OSPA was able to accomplish in or for your behalf for this year alone! It was a great year for all of us, and I wish each of you a very pleasant and enjoyable summer and a wonderful and exciting new year ahead! I also wish you much success and satisfaction next year in working with school-age children in this state and in helping make their worlds better, safer, and happier! This is the official "Sanders' Swan Song" as President, but I hope to keep seeing all of you or meeting you in the years ahead at OSPA functions and conferences! Until then... --Best Wishes Always, Linda Sanders , OSPA President |
