EXECUTIVE BOARD RETREAT IN JUNE

The OSPA Executive Board held its annual retreat and board meeting June 4-5 at the vacation home of board member Steve Crane in the Wichita Mountains near Lawton. The opening activities Friday evening included a tour of the Crane cabin and property and a "cracker barrel" session of topics relevant to OSPA business. Then on Saturday, a full day of other activities was also planned and conducted, including a get-together breakfast and lunch, a full-length Executive Board meeting in the morning, and a special NASP Public Policy Institute training session from Steve that afternoon. Steve is the Government and Public Relations/Legislative/Public Relations/Public Information Chairperson on the board.

Time was also built into the schedule of the retreat to allow for some "R & R" activities and excursions, fishing and hiking if desired, and sight-seeing along the way. Board members had the rare opportunity to both conduct official OSPA business and also enjoy some social time together! It was definitely an "easy-going crowd" on the porch where the Executive Board meeting was held in lawn chairs! It was also an important transitional and informational meeting between the officers and members of the current board and those of the new incoming board. President Linda Sanders "handed over the gavel" to President-elect Debby Wheat and wished her and the new board members a good year ahead in their roles in OSPA.
