AROUND THE STATE

The Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth has appointed Marshall Andrew Glenn, Ph.D. to the Interagency Child Abuse Prevention Task Force (ITF). OSPA is proud to have Andy representing school psychology in this important position.

Stephen Crane, Linda Sanders and Darla Griffin were participants during the Spring Conference of the Oklahoma Directors of Special Services (ODDS) in Oklahoma City on April 15 and 16, 199. Darla spoke on the topic IDEA News from D.C. -F-I-N-A-L-L-Y . Steve and Linda addressed Psychological School Services with a timely report regarding the changing role of school psychologist.

Serving as president of the Oklahoma Directors of Special Services (ODDS) for this year was Donna Powell, Ed. D., a former Executive Board member of OSPA. Donna has served as a psychometrist at the Kingfisher RESC and in several positions within the Guthrie Public School with the last being Assistant Superintendent. She retired at the close of the current school year.

Shelley Geyer has been hired by the Sapulpa Public Schools as the second school psychologist. Shelly , a former OSPA President and Executive Board member, had served in the Union Public Schools for many years as school psychologist. She has recently been working at Children's Medical Center in the pediatric neurology department, but feels that she belongs in the schools.

Congratulations to retiree Joyce Vaughn. She has served as school psychologist for the Edmond Public School for many years. She also served as OSPA Treasurer during the 1991-92 and 1992-1993 terms. Joyce will be missed by her colleagues. Another retiree is Joyce Ringwald, psychometrist for the Anadarko RESC XII since the 1980's . Joyce primarily worked in Stephens county and was a great help to her schools.
