NEW PSYCHOLOGIST AND PSYCHOMETRIST CERTIFICATION TESTS REVIEWED

The Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation is in the process of developing new certification examinations for Oklahoma educators. Among these are new Psychologist and Psychometrist exams. A test materials review conference was held on February 2 and 3, 1999. Committees made up of educators from throughout the state reviewed tests developed by National Evaluation Systems, Inc. of Amherst, MA. The committees worked for two days comparing the exam objectives to Oklahoma's teacher competencies and reviewing each item on the test.

Committee members reviewing the School Psychologist exam were Steven Crane, Edmond Public Schools; Andrew Glenn, Ph.D., Norman Public Schools; Minna Hall, Western Heights Public Schools; Mary Ellen Jones, Sapulpa Public Schools; Mike Lacy, Ph.D., Oklahoma Youth Center; Joyce Lowrey, Oklahoma City Public Schools; and Marni Wyand, Mid-Del Public Schools.

Serving on the Psychometrist committee were: Cherry Blaker, Owasso Public Schools; James Barnhart, Lawton RESC; Teresa Bartlett, Hugo RESC Psychometrist Supervisor; Sandra Boyd, formerly Lawton Public Schools; Julie Green, Stillwater Public Schools; Mary Ramzel, Bartlesville Public Schools; and Deborah Ross , Oklahoma City Public Schools.
